Dear Parents,
As February vacation approaches and families consider travel plans, I’d like to take this opportunity to remind you of the state’s travel guidance.
People traveling outside the six New England States (NH, ME, VT, MA, CT, RI) still need to self-quarantine for 10-days from their last day of travel outside New England. Travelers now have the option to shorten their travel-related quarantine if ALL the following apply:
- The person gets a molecular-based test (an antigen, rapid test, is not acceptable) on day 7 (or later) of their quarantine;
- The person tests negative;
- The person remains asymptomatic.
This 7-day “test out” of travel quarantine option applies ONLY to travel-related quarantine and NOT quarantine due to other types of exposure. In addition, there are exceptions to the travel quarantine:
The following people do NOT need to quarantine after high-risk travel:
- Persons who are 14 days beyond the second dose of their COVID-19 vaccine (i.e., 14 days after full vaccination).
- Persons who are within 90 days of a prior SARS-CoV-2 infection that was diagnosed by PCR or antigen testing (if a person had a previous infection that was more than 90 days prior, then they are still subject to travel quarantine).
If you know that your child will be traveling outside of New England at any time, PLEASE EMAIL ME AT mbenson@sau15.net BY FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 5, so that we can prepare for their absence. All of the learning materials will be uploaded in Schoology for students to access their learning from home..
We feel very fortunate to be able to offer in-person instruction for Cawley Middle School families. Thank you for doing your part to help us continue with this learning model.
Sincerely,
Matthew Benson
Principal
