Date Change for Recognition Evening: New Date – Wednesday, August 5, 2020

Dear 8th Grade Parents and Students,

As a result of numerous conflicts with high school graduations and events for schools that Hooksett students attend, 8th Grade Recognition Evening will now TENTATIVELY be scheduled for Wednesday, August 5, 2020.  Please see an updated version of the letter I emailed home yesterday.

I am writing to update you on the plans for recognizing the accomplishments of the 8th grade students and their journey through the Hooksett School District. As a result of the Governor’s order closing school for the remainder of the year, students will not have the opportunity for the normal traditions such as Camp Mi Te Na, 8th grade musical and camaraderie of being together. This reality is disappointing for all of you, the Cawley staff and myself.

I truly believe that it is extremely important to recognize the Class of 2020. I have tentatively scheduled the date of August 5, 2020 to have 8th Grade Recognition Evening. The time and details of the day or night will be communicated in late May. Please note that I used the word tentatively, as Recognition Evening could still be canceled based on the recommendations on social distancing from the Governor and CDC.

If the Recognition Evening cannot be held, there will be a virtual 8th Grade Recognition Evening  in which the ceremony will be livestreamed and recorded. Annual awards will be given, all students will receive recognition for being promoted, and the 8th grade slideshow will be presented.

I am proud of the Cawley Community supporting each other during this difficult time. I hope that all of you are safe and healthy. Please contact me if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Matthew Benson
Principal
