Dear Hooksett school community,
On November 3, New Hampshire voters will see a ballot question related to school district property-tax limits under House Bill 1300 (HB 1300). The Hooksett School Board, at our October 20 Board meeting, authorized Superintendent Rearick and me to prepare and distribute information about the measure and potential implications for district budgeting.
This isn’t a sales pitch advocating for a position. There is some nuance to the bill, and some important aspects which haven’t gotten much coverage. We’ve prepared a two page guide to explain its scope, the cap override process, and illustrate potential impact for Hooksett using our current school operating budget and recent trends as examples and context.
